June 20, 2016 {Week 53}: A Few Thoughts

Stress stress stress to write this email ahhhhhhh I forgot my watch, my rings, my earrings, and my plaqa today, so I’m a little out of it and don’t know what time it is….

But okay here we go…

So this has been a sickly cambio because this week I woke up twice with MY FACE SWOLLEN UP LIKE A FLIPPIN WHO! I don’t really know what happened, but they gave MORE scary strong medicine and looked at my foot again(he said it was okay, but it’s still swollen), and I kindly sent a pic of all the medicine Hermana Wilkinson has been taking on a daily basis haha…. I’m really gonna miss Hermana Wilkinson this next cambio, she has 9 months here so it’s probable that she will be going, but she is just such a good friend.  We are like best friends so I will be sad to see her go and finish up elsewhere, but I’m sure I will get an invite to her wedding haha.

oh!  woops! Happy Father’s Day!  Totally forgot it was Father’s Day until Hermana Williams mentioned it last night at like nine, so here’s a cute video!

Un Año Pensamientos–A Few Thoughts on My One Year Anniversary

-I’m really sorry for not being nicer before the mission. I am a changed person and SO much better and friendly and kinder and not so judgmental. I’m more patient and loving and warm and more open.  I’m trying to be generous and charitable and love first and judge never.  I, personally, am so glad that the Atonement exists so that I can repent and be better everyday…  It was something done for all mankind, but it has to be used on a personal level.

-I’ve learned that my common phrase and attitude “my way or the highway” is actually wrong.  That is NOT the way life works nor is it the way it SHOULD work.  I’ve learned that other ways are still okay, doing them differently, as long as you righteously and effectively reach the same end.  I hope I can remember that.

Bautismo de Hermano German! So Hermano German got baptized!!!  It was such a spiritual ordinance for our best friend little abuelo Boliviano Hermano german…. whenever he sees us he opens his arms real wide and says mis hermanitas!! It’s so sweet.  This Sunday, after his confirmation he took the Sacrament for the first time.  And paid his tithing too.  He will be such a blessed member of the Church if he remains faithful and firm too the end.  So happy for this son of God.

So we sang I Am a Child of God with the other sisters and the bishop liked it so much that he asked us to sing yesterday in sacrament meeting! it was pretty rough… I need to practice alto more so…………

Anyway, Hermano Marco Suarez performed the baptism and I wanted to share the small milagro or tender mercy that he experienced.  It’s been nice weatehr and comfortably chilly here in Trinidad during el Sur and so the water was pretty cold when Hermano Marco got in and he started commenting the water temperature in the font….. I said a quick small prayer that it would be alright for Hermano German, becuase he is ya know mas o meno viejito y pobre so I didn’t want any problems for him after doing such an ordinance with our Father in Heaven.  Afterwards, Hermano Marco said that as Hermano German got into font the water the warmer and warmer it got until it was comfortable!!  I asked Hermano German afterwards if it was cold and he said no!  He said that it was just right for him. The Lord knows His work and loves His children.  What we are doing here as missionaries, and as missionaries all over the world is THE LORD’S WORK.  It is not Joseph Smith’s work, it is not President Monson’s work, it is THE LORD’S.  I love the Gospel…

And now for my favorite scripture share of the week!  I finished up Ether this week(on track to finish the Book of Mormon before the end of the transfer!!) and I ran across a series of FANTASTIC scripturres that I would like to share,

Ether 2

24 For behold, ye shall be as whale in the midst of the sea; for the mountain waves shall dash upon you. Nevertheless, will bring you up again out of the depths of the sea; for the winds have gone forth out of my mouth, and also the rains and the floods have sent forth.
25 And behold, prepare you against these things; for yecannot cross this great deep save prepare you against thewaves of the sea, and the winds which have gone forth,and the floods which shall come. Therefore what will yethat should prepare for you that ye may have light whenye are swallowed up in the depths of the sea?

Ether 6

And it came to pass that when they had prepared all manner of foodthat thereby they might subsist upon the water, and also food for their flocks and herds, and whatsoever beast or animal or fowl that they should carry with them—and it came to pass that when they had done all these things they got aboard of their vessels or barges, and set forth into the sea, commending themselves unto the Lord their God.
And it came to pass that the Lord God caused that there should be furious wind blow upon the face of the waters, towards the promised land; and thus they were tossed upon the waves of the sea before the wind.
And it came to pass that they were many times buried in the depths of the sea, because of the mountain waves which broke upon them, and also the great and terrible tempests which were caused by the fierceness of the wind.
And it came to pass that when they were buried in the deep there was no water that could hurt them, their vessels being tight like unto dish, and also they were tight like unto the ark of Noah; therefore when they were encompassed about by many waters they did cry unto the Lord, and Hdid bring them forth again upon the top of the waters.
And it came to pass that the wind did never cease to blow towards the promised land while they were upon the waters; and thus they were driven forth before the wind.
And they did sing praises unto the Lord; yea, the brother of Jared did sing praises unto the Lord, and he did thank and praise the Lord all the day long; and when the night came, they did not cease to praise the Lord.
10 And thus they were driven forth; and no monster of the sea could break them, neither whale that could mar them;and they did have light continually, whether it was above the water or under the water.
11 And thus they were driven forth, three hundred and forty and four days upon the water.
12 And they did land upon the shore of the promised landAnd when they had set their feet upon the shores ofthe promised land they bowed themselves down upon the face of the land, and did humble themselves before the Lord, and did shed tears of joy before the Lord, because of the multitude of his tender mercies over them.

These scriptures really showed me that the Lord’s hand is everyone’s life, every single person.  He is blowing his furious wind across the waters of our lives to get US, His beloved children, to the promised land, or in other words His presence again!  That’s where ALL of His culminating actions go, to get every single one of His children to want to repent and be clean enough to return to Him.  HOWEVER, he can’t force anyone to exercise their agency in ways they don’t want to.  All He can do is send them experiences and promptings that can HELP them make the right decisions to return to Him.  As missionaries for His church we are integrally and intimately a part of His work of blowing the wind across the water of His children’s lives.  What a blessing and great responsibility it is to be His servant.

We helped the movement of the waters in Hermano German’s life and now he has opened the door so that he can enter into the presence of God.  Which brings me to another small story and doctrinal point….

This Sunday we went out with the ward council to the CEMETARY! I love Latino cemetaries, they are THE BEST.  Enjoy the cool pictures, we are doing some indexing to get all the names into the church database.  We found a headstone that said “you have gone to an unkown place, of which we are uncertain”– that was really sad!  Because it’s NOT uncertain!  We know where we are going!  When we die we leave our mortal bodies here and our spirits go the Spirit World, a place where we are waiting for our judgement and resurrection at the last day.  The just wait it a state of rest and paradise, knowing that they have done all they could to keep the commandments of God in this life and live his ordinances and keep our covenants with Him.  The wicked will live in a mental prison of sorts as their guilty consciences remind them that the night has come and they can no more act to redeem themselves and repent of their actions   Uggh NO MORE TIME TO EXPLAIN MY POINT.  I will next week!!!

LOVE YOUOOOO OODLES HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAHHHHH

Love y’all!!!

DO BETTER AND BE BETTER!

medetizar–  Ether 6:10 And thus they were driven forth; and no monster of the sea could break them, neither whale that could mar them;and they did have light continually, whether it was above the water or under the water.
