August 15, 2016 {Week 61}:I Love the Old Testament

My computer time has gone flying by today but let me share a teeeeeensy bit about how the week has gone.

I’ve really been developing a huge love for the Old Testament has I’ve been reading so much of it. I’ve made it a goal to finish 1 Samuel and all about David and Jonathan before the end of the month. We will see how it goes jajaja!

Hermana Nelson and I trained for a week!!!  Because Hermana Nelson was gone so we got Hermana Tituaña all to ourselves!  I even got to teach her how to wash clothes it was great!

Anyway so we’ve been teaching el Plan de Salvation a lot this week, and I’ve been thinking a little bit about that first question– where do we come from?  I’ve really loved the Old Testament and being able to find that answer.  Job has a lot of responses to it, but Jeremiah really answers the question a lot more directly without all the expalnation otherwise necessary…. Jeremiah 1:5 Before formed thee in the belly knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb sanctified thee…

I love knowing that Heavenly Father really is the FATHER of our spirits that isn’t just something we say, that’s WHO HE IS.  Nuestro amoroso Padre Celestial…… sometimes I just love thinking about what Heaven must be like, what it’ll be like when we can go home if we are obedient to Him.  He’s just so great.  He organized everything so we could come here and try and be good and use the Atonement to repent and overcome our weaknesses.  and uggh, His love is just so GREAT it’s crazy! Makes me want to just to the very very VERY best I can in EVERYTHING and the people here in Bolivia what is actually TRUE!!  People shouldn’t be and needn’t be wandering around wondering what the purpose of life is.  We are because He loves us and WANTS US TO GO HOME TO HIM. That IS his great and eternal plan….

Side note! because there is not much time, here are some cool quote from President Hinkley about the Book of Mormon and a call to action!

“While the Book of Mormon speaks with power about the issues that affect our modern society, the great and stirring burden of its message is testimony, vibrant and true, that Jesus is the Christ, the promised Messiah. The book bears witness of him who walked the dusty roads of Palestine healing the sick and teaching the doctrines of salvation; who died upon the cross ofCalvary; who on the third day came forth from the tomb, appearing to many; and who, as resurrected being, visited the people of the Western Hemisphere, concerning whom he earlier had said: ‘And other sheep have, which are not of this fold:them also must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.’”

Each time we encourage others to read the Book of Mormonwe do them favor. If they read it prayerfully and with sincere desire to know the truth, they will know by the power of the Holy Ghost that the book is true.  From that knowledge there will flow conviction of the truth of many other things. For if the Book of Mormon is true, then God lives. Testimony upon testimony runs through its pages of the solemn fact that our Father is real, that he is personal, that he loves his children and seeks their happiness.

If the Book of Mormon is true, then Jesus is the Son of God, the Only Begotten of the Father in the flesh, born of Mary, “a virgin, most beautiful … above all other virgins”for the book so testifies in description unexcelled in all literature.

If the Book of Mormon is true, then Jesus is verily our Redeemer, the Savior of the world. The great purpose of its preservation and coming forth, according to its own statement, is “to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations.”

If the Book of Mormon is true, the Bible is true. The Bible is the Testament of the Old World; the Book of Mormon is theTestament of the New. One is the record of Judah; the other is the record of Joseph, and they have come together in the hand of the Lord in fulfillment of the prophecy of Ezekiel. Together they declare the Kingship of the Redeemer of the world and the reality of his kingdom.

Brothers and sisters, without reservation promise you that if you will prayerfully read the Book of Mormon, regardless of how many times you previously have read it, there will come into your hearts an added measure of the Spirit of the Lord. There will come strengthened resolution to walk in obedience to his commandments, and there will come stronger testimony of the living reality of the Son of God.

This is something that has been missing in my studies these past couple of weeks and it’s because I finished the Book of Mormon and haven’t included it in my daily studies of the scriptures as I have Doctrine and Covenants and the Bible.  So I’m gonna get back down to reading cause I feel like there is so many more precious truths to find. I LOVE THE SCRIPTURES!

Doctrine and Covenants 84:51-53
For whoso cometh not unto me is under the bondage of sin.
And whoso receiveth not my voice is not acquainted with my voiceand is not of me.
And by this you may know the righteous from thewicked, and that the whole world groaneth under sin and darkness even now.

This week– 1 Samuel 17:47

And all this assembly shall know that the Lord seventh not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord’s…

Love y’alllllll tchauuuuu!
